Who is Zoomin’ Who?

Last week I prepared what I consider to be an epic keynote for the first virtual conference of the PARO Center for Women’s Enterprise. The stage was set, Executive Director Rosalind Lockyer’s introduction was great, I started strong, split my screen and then Zoom crashed.

I still don’t know what happened other than that change happens. Just when you think you’re solid, the quicksand takes you out and you need to be adaptable. I re-covered, re-entered and held the keynote without my slides. Technology… sigh…

As a tribute to Zoom and all readers on their way to mastering it (some are at the beginning of this phase and some like me who are still learning), I have a list of Zoom shortcuts to help you with zooming software like a pro (well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration… there’s so much to learn).

I really appreciate Zoom and we need it to stay socially connected while physically distancing. A few months ago, I taught my 81-year-old mother how to use Zoom for a family reunion. Last week I attended a memorial service led by a pastor about my mother’s age on Zoom. my American friend and I’ve found a lot of creative things on zoom…(not what you think)…movie nights, cook new recipes, read romantic stories and meet at the bar for drinks. Not always in that order…LOL

How Aretha Franklin sings, Who’s Zoomin’ Who? I encourage you to send these Zoom invites to meet in person for great conversations, productive meetings, friendlies, and even romantic nights.

Speaking of PARO’s Rosalind, she asked me if I could host a short webinar to help people learn about Zoom. I’ve learned never to say no to Roz. She has earned so much respect from women across the country and beyond. Even though I’m just a Zoom rookie, I’ll share everything I’ve mastered over the years. It’s Wednesday December 9th at 12:15pm, it’s free and you’re invited. Register by emailing: [email protected]

*Bonus… Trent Theroux delivers a brilliant, short and humorous weekly podcast designed to build resilience in business leadership that draws in thousands of listeners. Here is a relevant episode The story of the Zoom founder… the video conferencing service seemed to burst onto the scene overnight, but in fact it was over 20 years in the making.
