Advantages of Using IT in Education

New technologies can be a fantastic opportunity to experiment and grow with new teaching methods in education. This article looks at the benefits of using technology in schools. Among the reasons for using technology, we present some suggested by several teachers and researchers:

Equal rights. There are big differences between schools in all countries. Even among the public schools, there are schools with more resources than others. Students who have access to new technologies may have an increased chance of developing significant skills and advantages in the learning process.

Motivation. Through constant feedback, technological tools motivate many students to learn more.

Social. Creating opportunities for social closeness among trainees is another benefit of using IT.

Possibility of expanding in time and space. The student can access course materials and information presented by the teacher 100% of the time via the Internet. IT enables learning anywhere and anytime. Note that class time is short.

depth of understanding. Through interactive simulations and illustrations, a deeper understanding of a concept can be achieved. By having access to the same tools, students can experiment with the concepts themselves.

Learning something new. New technologies allow students to learn through projects on their own. You can also create affinity spaces through IT.

New media for self-expression. Students can publish their work through new technologies: present work using PowerPoint, record/edit spoken presentations, organize digital photography, video, newspaper or diary, school radio or television stations over the Internet, compose music on a synthesizer, create a website, create a blogs etc.

collaborative learning. According to several researchers, in the new digital world, collaborating on projects with others who may not even be physically close is a vital skill. This can be done with the new tools: internet, email, instant messaging and cell phone. Instead of working alone at home, students can work in small groups anytime, anywhere.

Global communication. The world view of the students can be expanded because new technologies make it possible to communicate around the world for free. For example, the Internet makes video conferencing possible. We can point out that researchers emphasize the importance of understanding other cultures through direct dialogue and collaboration.

Individual time. Information technologies allow students to organize their activities in a more personal way based on time and organization. Without interrupting others, they can review difficult lessons and explore topics they find interesting.

personal productivity. Students need productivity tools to write, read, communicate, organize, etc., as well as other collaborators. In this way, tools like PCs make activities more effective.

Inexpensive. By using free and open tools on the web, the student can reduce the cost of expensive learning materials. Many materials are created by educational communities and shared online for free.

These are some reasons why technology is important in today’s school.
