What Is And Different Models Of Internet Marketing?

In my last article I reported about myself and my beginnings in internet marketing. Today, here I am going to explain what internet marketing is and the different models related to it, although all of this can be done with just your pc, laptop, iphone and an internet wifi connection.

At first glance, most people are all about selling things online and making money. But when I asked them what else they knew, most of them looked at me blankly and had no idea how to answer further.

Because in my country of Singapore – especially despite being developed with high levels of home ownership and infrastructure – many people – particularly baby boomers and older generations – are very new to technology and prefer to stay in their comfort zone of learning through printed books, classrooms and networking events since the last 2 gave them a more personal touch compared to self-learning online, despite the extensive information you can find and learn on Google and YouTube.

What I can say is that while internet marketing gives you full flexibility, it also has different models under it just like traditional businesses that can operate in cafes, factories, offices and shops. Below that I will highlight, explain and highlight the pros and cons.

1. Affiliate Marketing

This is by far the most basic and I think everyone should start if they are new and looking to make their first dollar online like I did 10 years ago.

By definition, it promotes other people’s products for a share of commissions.

These can be digital products or informational products like in e-learning programs consisting of e-books, videos and software on membership sites, as well as physical consumer products that people like you and me buy in stores and e-commerce shops every day.

They can also be services like autoresponders or certified email advertising and service providers, domain registration and web hosting packages.

Where and how to advertise and get paid, you can signup to online marketplaces and networks like Amazon, ClickBank, Market Health, JVZoo, Warrior Plus and many others that you can find by careful Google and YouTube research.

2. Info product creation

Here you can create your own information product or e-learning courses.

As with e-books, videos, software, and other resources you can assemble into membership sites before selling them as your own program and even coaching.

The beauty of this is that not only do you have full responsibility for changes and promotion, but you can also recruit other people to promote you as an affiliate.

For that, I recommend Optimize Press and WordPress as the best platforms combined, although you can also create HTML pages using a free Kompozer tool.

3. Ecommerce and Dropshipping

In addition to information, you can also advertise physical goods.

Anything that you can buy in shops and stores can also be marketed on the internet.

Clothing, computers, electronics, furniture, home appliances, toys and video games to name just the most popular options.

4. Advice to local companies

If you are good at 2 or all 3 above, you can offer your services to small to medium sized businesses that need professional looking websites, social media channels and advertising for maximum exposure, leads and sales.

Once the respective bosses have seen and recognized the value of your work, they won’t mind paying you more as long as you continue to help them generate more customers, sales and revenue.

5. Mobile App Design

Along with websites, social media channels and advertising, mobile apps also play an important role in today’s economy.

Because nowadays most of the people prefer to browse websites through their iPhone and instead of just searching for websites through Google, they can download the apps and go straight to the apps to access all the information they need and want.

If you excel at that too, you can also supply it to businesses, restaurants, and shops as part of your marketing package.

6. E-Book Publication

Assuming you don’t like talking face-to-face, you might consider doing this along with affiliate marketing and creating informational products instead of reaching out to local bosses.

All you need is Microsoft Word or Open Office and type something you know a lot about and can help others before publishing it as a PDF through e-book directories or the Amazon Kindle Store.

7. Freelance Jobs

You can offer to be hired by internet marketers for things they don’t want to do and would rather outsource.

Like writing articles, designing graphics and producing videos.

But if you don’t deal with software and app development, your fixed salary is low from the start.

8. Sell domains and websites

This is by far the most lucrative of the 8 models I’ve highlighted.

All you need is to sell keyword rich or impressive domains and profitable websites to willing buyers on sites like Flippa and Empire Flippers.

Whichever model you choose, you can run anytime from anywhere as long as you have a computer and an internet connection. This is the real beauty of internet marketing!
