Teaching English Online

If you are looking for a new source of income to earn from your computer during the pandemic and are then considering teaching English online. You should be a native English speaker or have an excellent understanding of English grammar and little or no accent. Schools are looking for enthusiastic people who can quickly bond with their students, whether individually or in a small group.

Teaching English online is a huge market all over the world. At any one time, hundreds if not thousands of people are sitting at their computers taking 30-45 minute lessons with students abroad. All you need, in addition to a good knowledge of English, is a computer with a webcam, Skype and a headset with a microphone. You can even start with just a computer and Skype, which is free, and your computer’s audio system.

This will be especially interesting for early risers. China and South Korea are where most students live and study online after school. Due to the time difference, you may teach from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Can you do it? You also study on weekends, so Friday and Saturday evenings (18:00-22:00 your time) might also be possible.

Online teachers are paid at up to $22-$24 per hour (deposited directly into your local bank account). If you teach 4 hours a day, you can earn up to $400-$500 a week and your workday is done by 10:00 a.m., giving you the rest of the day off.

My book teach english online, tells you everything you need to know to set up a corner in a room in your house, where to find jobs, how to get paid, and anything else you need to know. It is available worldwide on Amazon websites in paperback or Kindle. Amazon ASIN # B0863SB1Q7

The pandemic has impacted local and overseas schools, resulting in online teaching becoming more popular than ever. To teach onsite online, you would need to be licensed in your state or province. You do not need to have a teaching license to teach foreign students. A degree is always preferred, but there are many positions that only require a TEFL certificate. Some agencies may even accept an applicant without a TEFL certificate if the need outstrips the number of applicants, but having one opens up a lot more opportunities and better pay. It also looks great on your resume or CV.

If you are interested in online teaching you can check out my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course. A TEFL certificate qualification will immediately show schools that you are a serious and knowledgeable applicant.

Several people I know love to travel. They teach from all over the world. They earn enough to pay their travel expenses. They teach nomads and love it. Save that for later once travel restrictions are lifted.
