Hermosillo is the capital of the state of Sonora and is located 2037 km from Mexico City via federal highways 57, 45, 110, 90 and 15 in Mexico. Hermosillo is also known as the city of oranges because of the abundance of oranges in its area. Dubbed the majestic “City of the Sun,” it is twinned with Phoenix, Arizona. It has a population of nearly one million and is heavily bilingual, with English being heavily promoted and widely used – particularly in tourism businesses.
Among the main attractions that you can visit in Hermosillo are: The Government Palace with interesting murals, Zaragoza Square and its Moorish Kiosk, La Asuncion Cathedral, the Chapels of Del Carmen and Espiritu Santo, the modern building of the Autonomous University of Sonora , where the State Museum is located. There are also: Madero Park, the House of Culture, Tres Pueblos Square and Batuc Church. Very close by, on La Campana hill (the Bell Hill) there is a viewpoint from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Another attraction is the Abelardo L. Rodriguez Dam, an ideal place for fishing. Hermosillo has several hotels and restaurants where the tourist can taste the famous regional cuisine. The most important festival in Hermosillo is the Vendimia Festival, celebrated from June 21st to 26th with a parade of floats and an industrial exhibition.

The program is constantly being improved and monitored by educational researchers working within our Soria Educational Group. Our language program includes English and French. There are currently about 600 students. The campus is located downtown, close to the city’s business and financial district. Our teachers work 40 hours a week, 20 class hours and 20 hours to organize and prepare materials, create lesson plans, participate in workshops and carry out other activities related to the field. Our groups vary between 10 and 25 students. Classes at Instituto Soria are a great opportunity for teachers: the school was founded in 1918 and is located about three hours from the US border. You have access to the Pacific Ocean, which is about an hour from town. The climate is very hot, so we ask our prospective applicants to have been in hot weather before applying. The requirements for this full-time position are: native English speaker, a bachelor’s degree in a related field (this is mandatory), some teaching experience, minimum age 26; You must be a team player, outgoing, dynamic and flexible and have an excellent personal demeanor. Knowledge of Spanish is also desirable.

University is seeking 3 full-time EFL teachers with experience working with groups of up to 20 students. Requirements include a master’s degree in a related field (MANDATORY) and the ability to speak Spanish at an elementary or intermediate level. You should be able to work well with others and enjoy teamwork, be patient and be able to multitask. A willingness to learn and participate in another culture and a good sense of humor are also required. Her job responsibilities would include a work schedule that varies from 7am to 6pm with 40 hours per week. (20 hours of tuition and 20 hours of administration). You would teach up to 3 classes daily, providing tutoring, class planning and administrative duties in addition to attending meetings, seminars and occasional training and workshops.
The university is located in Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora. It’s a border state, meaning it’s distinctly different from the tourist-oriented parts of Mexico. It’s definitely Mexico, but the US influence is obvious. Life here is often defined by the climate, which tops 40°C in the summer months, which is a great time to spend a weekend in nearby Kino Bay or San Carlos. Students here are keen to learn English and have ample opportunities to practice as there is a close connection with Arizona. However, English is not their first priority as they are in professional study programs at UNO. The University fully supports English learning and emphasizes its importance to the various programs.
